We saw a lot of response about the last Know Your Pro article we wrote, so we wanted to continue to highlight the people that make Shipwell the smartest place to ship freight.

This week, we have Laurel Roberts. She is the Customer Operations Manager at Shipwell and works with some of the companies biggest clients. We asked Laurel a few questions this week about her career.

How long have you been working with Shipwell? How long in logistics?

I have been with Shipwell since late 2018 and have been in the industry for six years working in Operations, Business Development and Management roles. The combination of service and technology that Shipwell provides puts us lightyears ahead of our competition and provides the most competitive advantage for our customers. I am proud to be a part of this organization every day.

What are some common challenges you help carriers/shippers navigate in freight every day?  

The most common challenge we solve every day is helping bridge the gap between supplier to end user by providing 24/7 visibility and communication to all parties. At any time, Shipwell customers can track their shipments in transit and be provided with real-time answers as to where their freight is and when it will reach its final destination. This gives players complete transparency and a competitive advantage that they have never seen in the past.

What is your favorite part of the job?

My favorite part of the job is conducting annual business reviews with our strategic partnerships showing the value adds and cost savings that Shipwell has been able to provide to their supply chain over the past year while also establishing future plans and efficiencies that Shipwell will provide in the future.

Where do you see the industry going in the future?

In the future, the industry has no choice but to go to full transparency and automation. People need 24/7 tracking capabilities and technology that is more accessible and easy to use in order to monitor their shipments. All shippers and carriers want the convenience to book and track freight by simply pressing a button. This is what Shipwell provides to so many key players already and continues to improve on every day.

What does a day off look like for you?

I prefer to spend my days off poolside with an aged cabernet and a couple of labradors.

Who do you consider to be your role models?

My role models are the effective and impressive leaders that I have worked for and learned from throughout my career.

What character from any movie/tv show best describes you? Why?

As Michael Scott would say, “I am Beyonce always.”

Laurel’s immense knowledge of the industry and personability has made her one of Shipwell’s most valuable players. We are excited to see what she does this year!
