What’s the difference between customers, company, and vendors?
In the Shipwell platform, it’s a place where shippers, brokers, and carriers can align and coordinate all under one roof. Therefore, you will see some settings for all three groups including your own organization.
All of these entities can be managed by clicking the Manage icon on the left sidebar navigation, opening up Customers, Company, and Vendors.
Here, you will find customers in the platform. You’ll notice your House Account, which is your company you’re assigned to in the platform. You’ll also see any customers you have in the platform.
To add a new customer, simply select + Add Customer.
Add your customer’s information on this page.
Click Save at the bottom of the page when complete.
This is your company. Here, you can find options to update your company name, email, phone, and also where you can opt to auto-archive shipments.
Here, you can also customize your Company Identifying Codes, such as a USDOT Number, MC Number, SCAC Code, MX Number, and FF Number (if applicable, for carrier users).
You may also add any Custom Customer Fields (such as their CRM ID) as well. Once a Custom Customer Field is Added, it will appear back under the Customers section.
You can also manage your internal users on this section as well. Select Users from the top navigation bar.
You can view all of the users within your company. To add a new user, click + Add User from the top right.
Set up their name, phone, and email address on this page, as well as set their user permissions using the toggle.
Click Save when you’re complete.
Companies can also change their Credit & Terms settings. Click Credit & Terms on the top navigation while you’re under Manage>Company.
Set up any necessary billing instructions and rate confirmation terms here. Click Save when you’re done.
Vendors are where you will find carriers in Shipwell. Our network of over 2 million carriers means you’ll likely find the carriers you’re working with already in the platform.
In the event a carrier is not in our network yet (most likely, they would be a new carrier that recently went into business) you may add them.
